A bicycle riding teen was killed on Monday after he was run over by a Winter Park fire truck.
Troopers said, the fire truck, driven by Ronald Ryan, 51, and the bicycle rider, 18-year-old Cullen MacKenzie Detamore, were traveling southbound on Lakemont Avenue. Cullen was riding to the right of the fire truck, troopers said.
Witnesses say, Ryan had turned on his blinkers to make a right turn onto Greenwich Avenue, but that’s when Cullen sped up, lost control and drove under the rear of the fire truck.
Cullen, crushed by the back of the fire truck, was taken to the Winter Park Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ryan sustained no injuries as a result of the crash, which occurred around 5:45 p.m.
Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
