FHP: Texting Driver Ends Up Submerged in Pond

The driver of a Ford pick-up, believed to have been texting while driving, ended up in a pond in Seminole County, Tuesday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.

No texting while driving

53-year-old Tim W. Miller, of Oviedo, was heading north on Alafaya Trail near Lake Hayes Road, when he left the roadway and ended up in a pond.

Miller’s 2002 Ford pick-up became submerged, but he was able to exit the vehicle on his own, troopers said.   Miller was taken to Florida Hospital East with minor injuries.

Based on Miller’s statements, it is believed he was texting when he drove off the road.  He was cited for careless driving.
