FHP: Search on for Hit-and-Run Driver in Fatal Crash

Troopers are searching for the driver of an SUV who struck and killed a motorcyclist in Volusia County Sunday night.

A Harley Davidson Mitsubishi, driven by 50-year-old Sabra Vocaturo, of Fort Myers, was traveling southbound on State Road 415, around 7:00 p.m., when the rear was struck by the unknown driver of a white SUV.

Vocaturo was ejected from the motorcycle into the northbound lane and was struck by two vehicles – a Buick driven by 53-year-old Constance Zanger of Lansing, Michigan and a Honda SUV, driven by 48-year-old Tamara Schmitt, of Deltona. Both vehicles were heading north on State Road 415.

Vocaturo, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead on the spot.

The white SUV that initially hit Vocaturo kept on going south on State Road 415 and didn’t stop, troopers said.

Troopers are looking for a newer model white SUV, missing the lower left, front portion of the bumper cover, including the lower auxiliary driving lamp and the white plastic trim around the left front tire wheel well. The vehicle’s left headlight may also be broken.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact FHP at 407-737-2213.
