FHP: Motorcyclist, Passenger IDed in Double Fatality


Troopers have released the names of the motorcyclist and passenger killed on the I-4 early on Sunday morning.

The victims are, Javier Remonsanzol, 34, and Allison Sellers, 32, both of Sanford.

Florida Highway Patrol said, an unknown driver of a 2007 Ford Explorer, struck the rear of the motorcycle Remonsanzol was driving on I-4, at mile marker 122 in Deland, Volusia County. The motorcycle overturned and both Remonsanzol and Sellers were ejected.   Sellers landed on the shoulder of I-4, while Remonsanzol ended up in the road and was run over by at least three vehicles, troopers said.

Remonsanzol and Sellers were pronounced dead on the spot. They were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m.

Troopers said, the 2007 Ford Explorer fled the scene and was located about 5 miles from the crash scene. An adult female that was with the unknown driver of the Explorer is a person of interest.

A PT Cruiser and a truck stopped at the scene after running over Remonsanzol in the road way.

In a separate accident, a Chevy Impala tryng to avoid the initial crash, traveled off on the shoulder, struck a tree and caught fire. Troopers said, all the occupants of the Chery were able to exit the vehicle on other own.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
