A mother and 5-month-old son are dead after their vehicle became submerged during an “off-roading” incident in a wooded area off International Drive on Saturday.
Troopers say, Hallie Lewis, 22, and Taylor Brown, 21, both of Orlando, parents of little Branson Brown, were “off-roading” around 10:30 p.m., when their Jeep Cherokee became submerged in a muddy area.
Taylor Brown, with the help of another adult from a second vehicle, tried to pull the submerged Jeep out of the mud. But troopers say, Lewis and 1-year-old Branson, who remained in the Jeep, became unresponsive.
Lewis and her son were transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The infant, who was transported to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, died on Sunday afternoon.
Troopers say, the incident remains under investigation.
