A Kissimmee man was struck and killed by the driver of a pick-up truck, as he attempted to cross US 27, in Lake County, said Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Troopers say, 50-year-old Dennis Smith, of Howey, was heading northbound on US 27, east of I-4 and attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the man. The front of Smith’s pick-up struck the man who was not at an intersection or a cross walk, FHP said.
Smith was unhurt.
The unnamed man was taken to Celebration Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Troopers say, the crash remains under investigation. It is not clear yet whether any charges will be filed.
