FHP: Husband, Wife Killed in I-95 Crash

A husband and wife were killed when the van they were riding in struck a pick-up in Volusia County on Sunday afternoon.

The deadly accident happened just after 3:00 p.m., on I-95 near mile marker 236.

Troopers say, John McGarvey, 64, and his wife 59-year-old Elizabeth, were traveling north on I-95 in a 2005 Chrysler van behind a Chevy pick-up driven by Daniel R. Wood, 57, of Winter Springs.

Witnesses told troopers John McGarvey attempted to pass the Chevy pick-up on the right and as he attempted to move back into the left lane, the rear of the Chrysler van struck the front bumper of the pick-up.

John McGarvey lost control of the van which traveled onto the grass median and overturned after striking a tree.

Both John and Elizabeth MacGravey of Saint Johns, Florida, were pronounced dead on the spot.

Two other occupants of the van, James Jackson, 19, and Patricia Jackson, 42, of Jacksonville, were taken to Halifax Medical Center with serious injuries.

None of the occupants of the Chevy pick-up sustained any injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol say the crash is still being investigated.
