FHP: Four Children Taken to Hospital After School Bus Rear-Ended

Four children were transported to a local area hospital to be checked out, after their school bus was rear-ended by a LYNX bus on Orange Blossom Trail on Thursday morning.

The school bus, carrying 25 children from Zellwood Elementary School, was stopped northbound on OBT, at Neal Sibert Drive, picking up students when the LYNX bus ran into its rear, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said.

The crash occurred just after 8:00 a.m.

Troopers said, seven patients were transported to a local hospital — four students and three adults from the LYNX bus, including the driver, Raymond Mieles, 60, of Orlando.

School bus driver, Miranda Fair, 39, of Apopka, sustained no injuries.

Mieles was cited for careless driving.
