Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on State Road 60 near Peavine Road in Osceola County. The crash occurred around 8:00 pm on Friday night.
According to FHP, a 2003 KAW motorcycle driven by Stephen Simpson, 44, of St. Augustine was traveling eastbound on State Road 60 in the westbound lane around 8:00 pm on Friday night. A 2005 Honda, driven by Gary Wilkins, 57, was traveling westbound on SR 60, in the westbound lane. The front of Simpson’s motorcycle collided with the front of the Wilkins’ Honda.
Simpson died as a result of the crash.  It is unknown whether or not he was wearing a helmet.
Wilkins, who is from Port Charlotte, was taken to Lake Wales Hospital with minor injuries.
FHP is continuing with the investigation.
