FHP: Cocoa Teen Dies Following Beachline Crash

A Cocoa teen who lost control of the vehicle she was driving on the Beachline last Saturday, has died.

19-year-old Carol Soto, died from her injuries on Sunday, at the Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Soto lost control of the 2002 Nissan she was driving and crashed into an oncoming SUV around 2:30 p.m., on State Road 528 near mile marker 31.  She was heading westbound, when she crossed the inside westbound lane onto the grassy median and into the path of an oncoming Dodge SUV, travelling eastbound.

Soto was taken to ORMC with critical injuries.  She died yesterday at ORMC, troopers said.

Troopers also said, it is unknown why Soto lost control of the vehicle.

79-year-old Theodore Jenkins, who was driving the Dodge SUV, and his passenger, Patricia Jenkins, 80, suffered minor injuries.
