Troopers are still trying to determine how a Cadillac crashed through a fence and into a pool located on Darlington Drive off John Young Parkway on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford van driven by Jeanine Kern, 54, was heading southbound on John Young Boulevard in the left turn lane and the 2001 Cadillac, driven by Mary Brenenborg, 73, was traveling north in the left through lane.
Kern attempted to make a left turn to go eastbound on Wisper Lakes Boulevard when the Cadillac struck the van. The airbags in the Cadillac deployed and Brenenborg, unable to see, continued on through a fence and into a pool located at 11642 Darlington Drive.
Brenenborg was able to extricate herself on her own steam as the car dove into the pool.
Both women suffered minor injuries. Kern was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital and Brenenborg was taken to the Florida Hospital.
Troopers said that the drivers have given conflicting statements regarding who had the green arrow light.
FHP is continuing with their investigation.
