The driver of a Dodge Charger and a pedestrian were killed on A1A near Pine Tree Drive in Brevard County Saturday afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers say, Nancy Chancy, 59, of Indialantic was speeding northbound on A1A, when she attempted to change lanes and struck the rear of a Volvo driven by Deborah Cook, 57, of Maryland.
The Dodge Charger Chancy was driving left the roadway upon impact, struck a culvert and became airborne. The vehicle also struck a telephone pole, a wall and a gate, before catching fire.
Chancy was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner.
On Monday morning, just before 9:00 a.m., Art Stroud, 60, of Melbourne, a pedestrian, was found dead in bushes by a homeowner and an electrician.
Troopers believe that Stroud, who was walking on the east shoulder of A1A, was hit at some point by the Dodge Charger. The heavy brush and trees where his body was found, prevented firefighters and police officers from locating Stroud’s body earlier.
Toxicology results are being awaited to determine whether or not alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation.
