Federal Agents Raid Two Orlando Pain Clinics

An Orlando doctor had his license suspended indefinitely on Friday, after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) raided two pain clinics in Orlando.

FDLE and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI), executed two search warrants at Pain Relief Clinic of Orlando located at 1704 Woolco Way and Pain Relief of Orlando at 2012 south Orange Avenue, as part of investigation into Pain Clinics “pill mill” activity, involving prescription medication.

According to FDLE, the doctor whose license was suspended, has prescribed more pills than the entire state of California, which dispenses close to 500,000 pills a year.

Officials of the Department of Health, who were present at the time of the raid, were on hand to revoke the license of one of the doctors.

On Friday, Gov. Rick Scott signed the new Pill Mill bill into law in Orlando at the FDLE office on west Robinson Street.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs recently appointed former Mayor Rich Crotty to chair a new Prescription Drug Task Force that will take a comprehensive approach to the epidemic of pill mills dispensing powerful addictive drugs such as Oxycodone.

Jacobs has made eradicating pill mills a top priority.
