The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is being sued for a bid awarded for work on SunRail, the 61-mile long commuter line in Central Florida.

The Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen and the Florida AFL-CIO filed a lawsuit Thursday to overturn the bid award.

The unions say, FDOT violated an agreement they had with the state to use only federally certified signalman for work on the line.  The unions also say, the safety of the rail could not be guaranteed by the winner of the bid, RailWorks, a subcontractor for Arthur Western.
