Orlando is among the top twenty-five most dangerous cities in America, according to data compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The City Beautiful reported 1,073 violent crimes per 100,000 people, according to businessinsider.com. Â It also reported 49.4 forcible rapes per 100,000 people. Â The national average is 26.8 per 100,000 people.
Orlando joins other cities like Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Washington, D.C.; Newark, New Jersey; Miami, Florida; and Atlanta, Georgia, that are on the list.
The FBI defines violent crime as murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.
