FBI, DEA Shut Down Jacksonville Pill Mill

In a raid undertaken by the FBI, DEA, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Health Investigative Services Unit, (ISU), the Duval Wellness Center in Jacksonville, was ordered to close its doors.

During a dispensing practitioner inspection on or about June 2, 2010, daily prescription logs revealed approximately 7900 prescriptions for Oxycodone, Alprazolam and Carisprodol were written by four physicians at Duval Wellness during a two-month period. The total tablets and/or pills dispensed for Oxycodone alone totaled approximately 611,160.

According to law enforcement, Duval Wellness is not registered with the Department to practice as a pain management clinic and failed to receive registration prior to operating as a pain management clinic. As a result, the clinic has engaged in unlicensed activity.

Donald Hall, D.O. is the registered agent and president of Duval Wellness.  This unlicensed activity charge is a third degree felony, punishable for up to five (5) years and/or a fine up to $5000.

Consumers are encouraged to contact DOH with any questions about the license status of Duval Wellness Center, if the clinic reopens for business.

Any further operation or advertisement by the facility as a pain management clinic are health care crimes and are referred to local law enforcement for prompt prosecution by the State Attorney’s Office. Additionally, consumers can visit DOH’s Web site www.flhealthsource.com where they can conveniently view the license information on any health care practitioner or facility that is regulated by DOH.  Complaints may be filed anonymously by completing and mailing the complaint form on the DOH Web site or calling 1-877-HALT-ULA to have a form mailed to you.

  3. In 2009, 5% of deaths in Florida are from prescription pills. That is 171,300 preventable deaths. A 20% increase over 2008. That’s 10 deaths per day.
Florida is the “pusher” state, with the nation’s top 25 Drs. all in Florida.
