A Sanford father accidentally ran over and killed his daughter on Thursday and left another woman in serious condition, police said.
Sanford police found 51-year-old Loretta Tomblin, dead around 9:30 a.m., under a Ford pick-up truck on Hughes Avenue and her cargiver, Veronica Jackson 43, behind the vehicle, in serious condition.
Investigators learned that, Lawrence Jones, 76, the father of Loretta, had attempted to back-up his pick-up truck to give the two women room to walk on the sidewalk, when he accidentally left the truck in drive. Jones ran over Tomblin and Jackson.
Jackson was transported by Air Care to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
According to news reports, Tomblin was wheel-chair bound and Jackson was her caregiver.
Sanford police say, the crash was a “horrible accident” and the investigation is ongoing.
