Gov. Rick Scott appointed Wednesday, Rep. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, as Pasco County’s new tax collector.
Fasano, 55, will replace Mike Olson, a Democrat who died June 26 after more than 32 years in the agency that handles tax bills, driver’s licenses and auto tags.
A special election will be held in the fall to choose Fasano’s replacement in House District 36.
As tax collector, Fasano’s income will jump to nearly $138,000 a year, more than four times as much as he earns as a lawmaker, the tampabay.com reported.
