The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW), friends, family and socially conscious consumers will call on Publix to improve wages and ensure basic rights of the farm workers who pick the tomatoes they sell.

The “Justice for Farm Workers” protest will be held outside Publix located at 400 E. Central Boulevard on Saturday, February 2nd at 4:00 p.m.

Eleven other major retailers, including Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods Market, already participate in the Fair Food Program, which aims to have an increase of a penny-per-pound built into the price of tomatoes.  But, Publix has refused.  Other mega corporations that participate include, Subway, McDonald’s and Burger King.
