The Coalition of Immokalee Workers, an internationally acclaimed organization of Florida farm workers, will convene a day of worship, enlightenment, strategizing and activism on Saturday, February 2, at the First Unitarian Church of Orlando, 1901 E. Robinson Street, Orlando, Fl., from 9:00 a.m, to 5:00 p.m.
After a decade of education and outreach, the CIW reached groundbreaking agreements with ten multi-billion dollar retailers and 90% of Florida’s tomato growers. The result: The historic Fair Food Program, an unparalleled mechanism ushering in a new day for human rights in the fields.
As Central Floridians partner with the CIW to:
- Learn how the CIW has been successful in bringing businesses to the Fair Food Program
- Strategize and plan for future collaborative social justice actions in Central Florida
- Participate in a social justice action at a local Publix to advocate for the Fair Food Program
The registration fee for this one-day event is $15.00 and includes lunch and snacks. The registration deadline is January 26, 2013.
