Family Wipe Out in Triple Killing

Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies continue their investigation into a triple shooting on Sunset Road in Stone Island, south of Deltona, early on Monday.  Investigators believe that an estranged husband shot his father-in-law, wife, and then turned the gun on himself.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Sunset Road after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor who reported hearing gunfire around 8:13 am on Monday. Upon arriving at the residence investigators located three dead bodies on the back porch of the house.

The victims are identified as:

Philip Spinney, 73 years, (father of Lara Negron)
Lara Negron, 41.
Carlos Negron, 39, of Orlando.

Investigators believe that Carlos Negron killed Philip Spinney, the father of Lara Negron, killed Lara and then turned the gun on himself.  A handgun was recovered near the body of Carlos Negron.

Based on their investigation, deputies said that Carlos and Lara were separated and in the process of obtaining a divorce.  The young child who was in the home and witnessed the shooting is the couple’s daughter.   She was unharmed.

The Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office has removed the bodies from the scene and is scheduled to conduct autopsies on Tuesday to confirm the cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
