Family, Friends Continue Calls for Justice in Taser Teen’s Death

Friends and family gathered again on Monday calling for justice for the Miami Beach teen who died shortly after he was tased by police last week.

Israel Hernandez died on Tuesday morning after police officers spotted the 18-year-old painting graffiti on an abandoned storefront at 71st Street and Collins Avenue around 5:00 a.m.

Hernandez, a graffiti artist and skateboarder, died one hour after Miami Beach Police used a Taser to stop him when he ran from officers.

A wake will be held on Tuesday for Hernandez and a Miami Lakes funeral home has donated services, according to news reports.

Several rallies have been held calling for justice since the teen died.

Meanwhile, FDLE has opened an independent investigation in the teen’s death.
