A bored 18-year-old teen, pretending to be a law enforcement officer has been arrested for pulling over a motorist on Osceola Parkway, Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies said.
Leonel Abreu, 18, from Poinciana Circle, Kissimmee, was booked into the Osceola County Jail, for impersonating a Law Enforcement officer after he stopped a driver on the Osceola Parkway near Briarwood Drive.
The female driver told deputies that while traveling on the Osceola Parkway on Tuesday around 10:00 pm, she noticed a black Ford F150 following close behind her. The woman said she could hear a siren coming from the truck and what sounded like someone speaking through an intercom. The woman said she pulled over because she believed that law enforcement was initiating a traffic stop.
The driver of the truck approached the victim’s vehicle, asked her to turn off the engine and to put her car keys on the hood of the car. The woman told investigators she refused, and the driver fled the area.
The victim followed the driver of the truck and was able to get a license plate number, which led deputies to Abreu’s residence.
Leonel Abreu confessed to deputies telling them he and his friends were bored and he did not know why they pulled the victim over. He was fully aware the incident might appear as if he were a Law Enforcement Office, Abreu told investigators.
Abreu was arrested and charged with impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail and bond was set at $2,500.
