Maybe they just want an “A” for effort? Local non-profit Organize Now announced a Pine Hills Organizing Committee meeting to be held in…Colonialtown?! It’s both laughable and insulting for a “community” organization to hold a meeting specific to one area, like Pine Hills, in a completely different part of Orlando, like Colonialtown.
Then again, maybe Organize Now doesn’t want Pine Hills residents to attend the meeting. Surely, Organize Now could have found a location in Pine Hills, even if this is just an organizing meeting.
Pine Hills is a census-designated community in unincorporated Orange County, west of Orlando. Pine Hills is majority minority and has been a focus for neighborhood revitalization. Crime has been an ongoing problem for the area, along with other economic problems that have plagued the community.
The Pine Hills organizing meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6th at 6:30pm in the Organize Now Colonialtown office located on East Colonial Drive. There were no details posted publicly about transportation options to and from the planned Organize Now meeting for interested residents of Pine Hills.
