Facebook, Instagram Ready to Reinstate Former President Trump

Meta has announced they are ending the controversial suspension of former President Donald J. Trump on Facebook and Intagram, meaning if Trump wants to, he can return to the social media platforms in the coming weeks.

Nick Clegg, Meta President for Global Affairs told FoxNews the company has an action plan against offensive posts. Facebook did say there are “guardrails” in place, whatever that means, and that Trump will have to “play by the rules,” but he’s back.

On January 6, 2021, former President Trump posted on Facebook: “I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

The decision to ban Trump has been controversial and very political for the social media company. With the 2-year suspension ending, the next chapter of Trump on Facebook and Instagram begins just in time for the 2024 Presidential campaign.

Trump’s first response to the news came from Truth Social, his own social media platform.

“FACEBOOK, which has lost Billions of Dollars in value since ‘deplatforming’ your favorite President, me, has just announced that they are reinstating my account,” Trump posted. “Such a thing should never again happen to a sitting President, or anybody else who is not deserving of retribution! THANK YOU TO TRUTH SOCIAL FOR DOING SUCH AN INCREDIBLE JOB. YOUR GROWTH IS OUTSTANDING, AND FUTURE UNLIMITED!!”

Can you imagine what Trump’s first post back on Facebook will be? The world of politics may not be ready.
