The 6-member committee set up to help the troubled Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority regain the public’s confidence, voted on Tuesday on some two dozen recommendations.
Of the list of recommendations, some were modified, others combined and some dropped completely. Issues relating to ethics and saving money were approved.
However, two recommendations put forward by board member, Fran Pignone,– the removal of the Expressway Executive Director Mike Snyder and a re-examination of the recent 25-cent toll increase– did not get any support.
The changes voted on must now be approved by the Expressway Authority.
The Authority is yet to vote on whether the discount for high users should be scrapped. If this happens, the Authority could save some $7 million, sources say.
