Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies said they responded to witnesses calls at 0855am today, January 23rd, regarding an attack, by an unknown suspect, to an elderly male that was occurring at the residence located at 6305 Hillwood Drive. Additional information was received that the suspect had fled on foot armed with a knife.
Deputies arrived at the residence and were confronted outside the house with the deceased body of an 85-year-old victim, who had obviously succumbed to the injuries suffered as a result of the attack. Deputies secured the area, conducted a search of the residence for any suspects and none was found. They discovered the crime scene was not relegated only to the exterior of the home.
As units responded to the area of the call and searched for the described suspect, FHP Troopers observed the suspect walking away from the area on Oakridge Road west of John Young Parkway, where he was detained without further incident. At the time of the arrest the suspect had blood on his clothing and did not offer any resistance and once all items of evidentiary value were recovered and removed, he was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained.
The motive for this attack is still unknown at this time. Also, there is no indication from statements received so far that the victim knew the suspect.
The deceased is Juan Antonio Torres Gomez, 85 years.
Kenneth Guillen, 33 years, has been taken into custody as a result of this homicide.
Orange County Sheriff’s deputies are continuing with their investigation.
