The Foundation for Excellence in Education selected eight Orange County Public Schools teachers for the 2010 Excel Award. The teachers were chosen based on proven success in the classroom. According to the foundation, 76 teachers statewide were selected based on a statistically-sound method developed along with the American Institutes for Research. Students in these educators’ classrooms have demonstrated the most progress in reading or math for the past three consecutive years as based on FCAT results. Data was provided to the foundation by the Florida Department of Education.
