A routine traffic stop of an Edgewater man, driving with a revoked license turned out to be anything but, as cops charged him with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies noticed Randy Freeman, 29, getting into his car on Tuesday around 3:15 pm, but a check of his tag number revealed that it was expired and that his driver’s license had been revoked. But, before deputies could conduct a traffic stop, Freeman had driven away.
Freeman returned to his home on Wildwood Avenue, deputies said, around 6:30 pm, at which time, he was stopped. He appeared to hide something, deputies said, as they approached his car.
Deputies noticed a purple Crown Royal bag with a glass smoking pipe and whitish residue sticking out, on the driver’s seat of Freeman’s car, as he got out. Investigators said that there was also a small blue bag containing powder which tested positive for methamphetamine. A pill container around Freeman’s neck contained Roxycodone bill, a generic form of Oxycodone, sometimes used in conjuction with meth. More drug paraphernalia was found inside Freeman’s car, deputies said.
Investigators found Other drug paraphernalia inside Freeman’s home. Freeman confessed to the possession of Methamphetamine manufacturing equipment possession of the items found in his vehicle.
Freeman was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach and charged with possession of Methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a revoked license. He is being held on a $1,700 bond.
Deputies said that more charges are pending in relation to the meth lab chemicals found at the home.
