Orlando’s Mayor Buddy Dyer said Monday he is saddened by the sudden death of Pastor Zachery Tims, founder of the mega-church, New Destiny Christian Center, in Apopka.
“I am saddened by the untimely passing of Pastor Zachery Tims, Jr. His good work will certainly live on through the thousands of lives he has positively impacted in Central Florida,” Dyer said in a written statement.
Dyer added, “His passing is a sad time for everyone, who knew him, worked with him or benefited from his dedication to our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Pastor Tims’ family and friends during this time.”
Tims was found dead in a hotel room in New York City’s Times Square last Friday around 6:00 p.m.
Autopsy and toxicology results are being awaited to determine what led to Tims’ sudden death.
