Incumbent Mayor Buddy Dyer won re-election on Tuesday night to serve his fourth term as Orlando’s mayor.
Dyer handily beat his opponents Paul Paulson and Sunshine Linda-Marie Grund receiving 63 percent of the vote.
Paulson garnered 7,381 votes while Grund scored 978.
“The true strength of our city is our people,” Dyer said. “We’re not just another city, we’re the best city in America. And we reiterated that today.”
Incumbents Commissioners Patty Sheehan (District 4) and Sam Ings (District 6), also won re-election on Tuesday evening.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Dyer’s ‘best city in America’ ranks dead last nationwide on median wages -$29,781.
And a recent analysis by the Orlando Sentinel found that Orlando was No. 1 for jobs that pay $20,000 – with 25 percent of the jobs paying $20,220 or less.
