Orlando Mayor Buddy will participate in his 100th work-along tomorrow, alongside Police Chief Paul Rooney and OPD officers to install window air conditioning units in homes of elderly residents in Orlando’s Parramore community.
Dyer will assist in unfastening and removal of any non-working window air conditioning unit, placing the new unit into the window, fastening the unit to brackets and sealing the unit using weather-stripping for the outside and caulking for the inside.
The units were donated by Moms Remembered, a local organization that helps elderly “moms” remain self-sufficient and in their own homes. To date, the organization has donated 75 window air conditioning units to needy, elderly mothers.
In 2003, upon taking office, Dyer launched his work-alongs where he has worked alongside City employees and participated in a series of community service related events.
