If the city of Orlando budget is approved, Mayor Buddy Dyer and city commissioners would see their pay jump by 21 percent, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
The City Council has built-in salary increases for themselves in the 2013-2014 fiscal year budget. This means that Dyer’s salary, currently $160,892 per year would climb to $195,500 and commissioners who make $49,383, would pocket $60,000 with the pay raise, the paper also reported.
The budget is expected to be approved next week.
It is unclear whether any provision has been made for increases in pay for hardworking city employees.
Meanwhile, last week, it was reported that metro Orlando ranks last, nationwide, in terms of median pay and has the largest share of jobs – 37 percent – paying less than $25,000 a year.
