A man who posed as a Dunkin’ Donuts corporate employee then grabbed the cash register and fled the store, was caught 200 yards away, Orange County deputies said.
The man entered the Dunkin’ Donuts store at 1650 N. Alafaya Trail just before 3:30 p.m. Monday and advised the employees he was conducting an audit.
Deputies said, the man was dressed in a business suit and appeared legitimate.
The employees pulled the cash register and met the man in the back room to undertake the audit. As the employees were gathered, that’s when the man grabbed the cash register and ran out the back door.
Employees and several passers-by gave chase and the suspect was caught in the shopping plaza nearby.
Deputies said, the man was held at bay until responding officers arrived on the scene. He was taken to a local area hospital complaining of medical issues, but upon release will be charged with strong arm robbery, among other charges.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The name of the suspect has not been released.
