Dunkin’ Donuts ‘Corporate’ Imposter Identified

Ricardo Diaz - suspect

Deputies have released the name of the Orlando man who passed himself off as a Dunkin’ Donuts corporate employee and robbed one of its stores on Monday afternoon.

Orange County investigators said, 48-year-old Ricardo Diaz entered the Dunkin’ Donuts store at 1650 N. Alafaya Trail and advised employees he was there to conduct an audit.

Diaz ordered the employees to take the cash register to a back room in the store so he could undertake the audit. When they did so, Diaz grabbed the cash register and ran out the back door.

Employees and several passers-by gave chase and he was apprehended and held in the nearby shopping plaza until deputies arrived.

Diaz was booked into the Orange County Jail around 8:30 p.m. He has been charged with burglary of an occupied structure, petit theft and robbery. Bond was set at $5,250.
