Duh!: Driver Stopped in Middle of I-4, Leads Troopers on Chase

A driver who stopped his truck in the middle of I-4 Friday morning and who took off in the vehicle when troopers tried to get his attention, will soon find himself in the Orange County Jail.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said, Robert Lee Staggs, 50, was in the center lane in a red 1998 Dodge pickup truck, on I-4 near John Young Parkway, around 9:20 a.m.

When troopers tried to question him, Staggs took off and continued eastbound, evenutally stopping the truck in the eastbound lanes of I-4 near Maitland Boulevard.

Troopers said, Staggs refused to come out of the vehicle and so was taken out. He claimed to have a medical issue and was transported to the Florida Hospital South.

FHP said, Staggs will be arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license and other traffic charges.

The owner of the vehicle told troopers he had been trying to get his vehicle back from Staggs for the last four days without success.

Staggs is expected to be booked into the Orange County Jail later today.
