For the second consecutive year, Dr. Phillips High School’s women’s sports program was crowned the FHSAA’s best in its highest classification. DP finished with 541 points, topping second-place Winter Park by 89 points and third place Spruce Creek by over 100. State Championships in Competitive Cheer-leading and Women’s Basketball and a runner-up finish by Flag Football were the key components again this year. DP men’s sports program finished eighth in the state in Class 8A with 282 points. DP finished third overall (men and women combined) in the final Floyd E. Lay All-Sports standings with 823 points, behind top-ranked Winter Park and second place Spruce Creek. In other sports news, Men’s Volleyball seniors Logan Maladecki and Andrew Johnson were named to the Orlando Sentinel’s All-Central Florida team last week. Maladecki was named to the first team and Johnson earned second team honors.
