Women’s Golf cut 11 strokes off their score on day two to finish with a team score of 358 and place 13th at the 2012 State Championship in Lady Lake. Sophie Benetti came into the clubhouse with an 81 to lead the Panthers, followed by sophomore Mao Young at 86, sophomore Cristine Lee at 89, sophomore Abby Goodin (who cut ten strokes off her opening round) at 102 and senior Mindy Schwartz (13 strokes under her opening round) at 108. Benetti placed 20th individually in the 95-deep field for DP’s best individual finish in over a decade.
Football’s All-American safety, Marcell Harris, became the fourth Panther to earn an invitation to play in the prestigious Under Armour All-American Bowl January 4th in St. Petersburg. Harris, who is rated as one of the top safeties in the nation, was officially presented his game jersey this morning at the school in front of his teammates and peers. The Under Armour  game has become arguably the top destination for college prospects over the last few years and brings together the top players at every position from across the country. DP has sent four players to the game in consecutive years, one of the only programs nationwide to do so. Kenny Shaw (2010), Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix (2011) and Trey Griffey (2012) preceded Harris’ invitation.
