Five goals by Katherine Breese and eight saves in goal by Mia Emmerson highlighted a 17-3 thrashing of Lake Nona by Women’s Lacrosse. Elizabeth Hales scored four goals and assisted on three more and Cymber Larkin added three goals and an assist. Michaela Decker and Sarah Hamp each scored a pair of goals and added an assist to their name while Sydney Hughes picked up a goal to complete the scorecard. The Panthers improved to 7-2 on the season.
Men’s Volleyball followed up their victory at East River Tuesday with a home court demolition of West Orange, 25-21, 25-18, 25-15, for their fifth straight win to improveto 7-2 on the year. Justin Soffer led the kills category with nine while Andrew Johnson(eight kills, two blocks) and Logan Maladecki (seven kills, two aces, two blocks) had strong outings as well. Nana Kwarteng came off the bench in the second game with tremendous serving in the clutch. DP will host Olympia in the gym tonight in a match that should decide the Metro West Conference title. JV Volleyball moved to 2-1 on the season with victories over East River (25-10, 15-9) Tuesday andWest Orange (25-16, 15-15) last night. Michael Sanders was the defensive star with 13 digs and Daniel Freitas played well at the net.
Dr. Phillips Baseball got the win they needed last night, 2-1 over visiting Freedom, to snap a two-game slide. Robbie Barrett fired a complete game, scattered three hits and struck out four to pick up the win. While the runs weren’t plentiful, the hits were timely enough. Billy Underwood doubled and drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, Daniel Rodriguez went 1-2 and knockedin a run, Jack Flaherty singled, stole two bases and scored and Jalen Phillips singled and stole a base.
JV Baseball upped their record to 6-4 with a 7-2 win over host Freedom. Sophomore Brett Seelig went 2-4 with a double, driving in two runs, and Nolan Lang finished 2-4 with a double as well.
Sarah Lang went 3-4 with a single, triple, her first career home run, scored twice and knocked in four runs to lead Softball to a 10-4 victory over visiting Freedom. Freshman Caitlyn Jones hadh er best all-around performance of the season going 4-4 at the plate with a double, three singles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Jones also struck out seven batters in picking up the Panthers’ tenth victory of the season (10-4), already eclipsing last year’s mark with at least 11 games remaining in the year.
Megan Maladecki drove in a pair of runs, Morgan Wailes laced a shot to the outfield and Donna Ryan stood out pitching, hitting and fielding as JV Softball ripped into Freedom, 12-3. The Panthers have won four of their last five games to even their record at 5-5.
