A group of people leaving a downtown Orlando night club were shot at during a robbery on Wednesday morning and one of the victims was taken to hospital, Orlando Police Department detectives said.
Police responded to a shots fired call, around 3:00 pm on Wednesday, at west Livingston Street just east of north Hughey Avenue under the I-4 overpass.
Some in the group were not aware initially that a robbery was in progress, until one of them saw a suspect with a handgun, reports wftv.
According to police, one of group continued toward his car where he was shot twice through his front vehicle wind shield during the robbery at the north east corner of west Robinson Street and State Lane.
“I don’t know whether the car was trying to move to go, or whether they were just getting in the car, or whether the demands weren’t being met. The guy pulled out the gun and just fired,” said Barbara Jones of the Orlando Police, reports wftv.
Detectives said that the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction possibly in a silver Honda CRX and that a silver short barrel revolver was used in the shooting.
The victim was taken to ORMC as a result of his injuries and is expected to survive. Detectives have not released the name of the victim.
Orlando Police are continuing their search for the suspect, as they continue with the investigation.
