Downtown Orlando Hotel Shooter Caught in Lake County

James Combee who shot and killed his friend, Christopher Gomez early on Sunday morning in a Downtown Orlando hotel, was arrested in Lake County on Wednesday.

Combee, 19, and Gomez, 20, got into a physical altercation at the Downtown Orlando Marriott Hotel at 400 W Livingston street after they returned from celebrating the birthday of another member of their group.  During the altercation, Gomez was shot and Combee fled the scene on foot.   He had been on the run since the shooting early Sunday morning.

When Orlando Police Department detectives arrived at the Marriott they found Gomez suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Combee who has been on the run since early Sunday morning after the shooting, was captured in Lake County on Wednesday afternoon around 4:30 pm.   He was being transported to the Lake County Jail.
