Law enforcement officers have confirmed receiving “credible information” that the Dougherty gang wanted for crimes in Florida and Georgia, have been seen in Colorado.
Police received a tip around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday that the three siblings, wanted for attempted murder of a Florida police officer and a Georgia armed bank robbery, have been spotted downtown Colorado Springs.
A nationwide manhunt has been ongoing since August 2, for 21-year-old Ryan Edward Dougherty, 26-year-old Dylan Dougherty Stanley, and 29-year-old Lee Grace E. Dougherty.
The trio took a Zephyrills patrol officer on a wild pursuit around 7:00 a.m., on August 2, during which they opened fire, disabling the patrol car. Multiple calibers were used. That same day, police believe that the three suspects, held up and robbed at gunpoint, a Certus Bank in Valdosta, Georgia, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Since then the trio have been on the run from law enforcement.
It is believed that the crime spree started after Ryan removed an electronic device from his person and failed to register as a sexual offender in Pasco County, Florida.
Ryan Dougherty, Dylan Dougherty Stanley and Lee Grace E. Dougherty are believed to be armed and dangerous, law enforcement say.
