Disney Bus Crash Injures Five Persons

The driver of a Disney bus and four passengers were injured when it collided with a tractor trailer at the intersection of Boggy Creek Road, near SR 417 on Monday, troopers said.

FHP said, the Disney bus was traveling eastbound on the exit ramp from Northbound SR 417 approaching the intersection of Boggy Creek Road in Orange County, when it collided with a tractor trailer heading southbound on Boggy Creek Road, in the right through lane.

About 150 gallons of diesel from the tractor trailer spilled onto the roadway, following the collision, troopers said.

The driver of the Disney bus, Rockland Steel, 50 years, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.  Four of the 50 passengers on the bus also suffered minor injures and were taken to ORMC.

52-year-old Wayne Earle, the Palm Bay driver of the tractor trailer, was not hurt in the crash.

Troopers say, the crash remains under investigation to determine which driver ran the red light and charges are pending.
