A Zephyrills High School science teacher could lose her job for placing ‘cone of shame’ collars on her students to discipline them.

According to tampabay.com:

Pasco County schools superintendent Heather Fiorentino has recommended firing physical science teacher Laurie Bailey-Cutkomp, 47, for putting the collar — the type used to prevent animals from licking themselves after surgery — on at least eight of her ninth-graders on two days in April.

Zephyrhills High administrators said they first learned of the teacher’s actions after parents pointed out photos on Facebook of the students with the cones.

  2. I say good for the teacher. These students even with this implemented were still clearly on their phones, on Facebook and not paying attention in class. There’s a decreasing level of respect for teachers and adults in general from younger generations and I feel it’s intolerable. This didn’t hurt the student in any way and the student understood that the behavior would result in having to wear the cone and proceeded to behave in the manner not acceptable in the classroom anyway. There are consequences for actions and this was the consequence of her action.

Does anyone else think it’s funny that the news crew made the student wear the cone for the interview?
