Deputy Saves Elderly Man from Burning Home

An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy saved the life of an elderly man he pulled from a burning home on Wednesday morning, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputy Sheriff Miguel Rosario was on his way to work shortly before 6:00 p.m, a call came in regarding a house fire at 5415 Micco Drive. He quickly diverted and went to the location where he found the adult son tyring to help his father out of the buring home.

D/S Rosario quickly sprung into action and ran into the burning house and carried the elderly man out.  By this time, another deputy sheriff had arrived on the scene and assisted D/S Rosario in carrying the man to safety away from the burning home.

The residence was fully engulfed in flames and smoke when Rosaio entered without any protective gear to rescue the elderly man, already unconscious.

Orange County Fire Rescue personnel arrived shortly thereafter and assumed firefighting duties at the residence.

A statement from the Sheriff’s Office said, the adult son and elderly man are in serious condition, but are expected to recover.

D/S Rosario was also taken to a local hospital for observation, but has since been released.
