Deputies: Winter Park Suspect Arrested in Vehicle Theft

An anonymous tip from an alert citizen let to the arrest of a man accused of auto theft.

38-year-old Michael Daniel Carlisle, of Winter Park, was apprehended last Friday, July 24, by the Winter Park Police.

Carlisle faces multiple charges including grand theft of an automobile, burglary of a structure, obstruction by a disguised person, tampering with a coin operated machine and criminal mischief.

Investigators said, Carlise was captured on camera entering the Circle K on Sandlake Road near I-Drive on July 21.  He was seen loitering in the parking lot minutes before other customers at the gas pump.  When the victim parked his car in front of the business and left the key in the ignition and entered the business, Carlisle walked around the vehicle, jumped in and took off.

Orange County detectives received an anonymous tip from a citizen who saw the video on the news.

Carlise was booked into the Orange County Jail last Friday.
