A man was shot and killed by Orange County deputies near Tranquility Extended Stay Hotel and the Que Rico restaurant near S. Orange Blossom Trail on Monday evening.
According to OCSO, the man was walking with a pellet gun, appeared “irate,” and ignored deputies’ orders to comply. It is not clear if the man pointed the pellet gun at the deputies.
Eye witnesses told investigators, the man wasn’t making much sense and appeared drunk, according to news reports.
Deputies are continuing to interview witnesses and review video to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
The identity of the victim has not been disclosed; deputies would only say he was a Black male, in his 20s.
Meanwhile, the two deputies involved in the shooting, who have not been identified, were placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
