A man walked into a Chevron convenience store on OBT on Thursday night, pretended to be a customer before strong-arming the cashier and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said.
According to deputies, at approximately 8:00 am on Thursday, a black male suspect walked into the Chevron at 3839 S. Orange Blossom Trail and up to the counter as though he was a customer. The suspect reached over the counter as the clerk opened the register to give change to another customer and grabbed an undisclosed amount of money.
The clerk fought back, attempting to retrieve the stolen property. A small altercation took place before the suspect was able to forcefully free himself, fleeing the store with the money.
Detectives said that the suspect was last seen running away on foot with the money from the register.
