Full Sail Student Shot, Suspects Caught

Two suspects involved in an attempted robbery and shooting of a Full Sail student on Tuesday, are now in custody after deputies conducted a felony stop on a vehicle matching the description of the get-away car.

Ed Tavion Jamarious Wilcox, 18 years

According to Orange County Sheriff’s Office:

Around 5:15 pm on Tuesday, deputies received a 911 call in reference to a young male that had been shot in an attempted armed robbery at 741 Driggs Avenue.

Detectives responded to the scene in the rear parking lot of a new car dealership and learned from the victim that he was approached by two black males driving a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

The suspects demanded property from the victim.  The victim, a Full Sail student in his 20s,  who attempted to flee was fired upon, sustained a non-life threatening injury and was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Deotyne Scott, 19 years

At 5:27 pm, deputies conducted a felony stop on a vehicle matching the description of the car involved in the attempted robbery and shooting, in the 500 block of southern Charm Drive.  The suspects were taken from the car and are now in custody.

The suspects are: Ed Tavion Jamarious Wilcox, 18, and Deotyne Scott, 19 years.

Deputies said that both Wilcox and Scott have been charged with attempted first degree murder with a firearm and armed robbery.   They were attempting to rob the Full Sail student, who did not comply, of his lap top computer, deputies said.

The suspects were booked into the Orange County Jail at 1:00 am on Wednesday morning.

The Full Sail student is expected to survive his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
