Deputies: Missing Deltona woman, two kids are dead

Late on Thursday, deputies confirmed that a missing Deltona mother and her two children are dead, although the search for the victims’ bodies is still ongoing.

Yessenia Suarez, 28, and her two children, Thalia Otto, 9, and Michael Otto, 8, had not been heard from since Tuesday. Her husband, Luis Toledo, 31, is a person of interest in the case.

Toledo, who investigators continue to interview, is in jail, after being arrested on battery charges on Wednesday.  The day before, Suarez was the victim of a domestic violence incident at her workplace in Lake Mary, at the hands of Toledo.

On Wednesday, deputies were asked by family members to conduct a well-being check on Suarez at a home in Covent Gardens Place in Deltona, where she lived with her two children.  Investigators found no one at home when they arrived.

According to news reports, Toledo is a known gang member and has an extensive criminal record dating back to 1997, with charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and battery with a deadly weapon.

No one has been charged yet in the deaths of Suarez and her two children, as the investigation continues.
